Broad Cove, Trinity Bay is located on Route 80, between Old Shop and South Dildo. The small community overlooks Dildo Arm. The communities of Broad Cove and South Dildo (on Route 80) and Dildo (on a side road) are very close to each other, and can seem like one community to visitors from outside the region.
The Harbour Grace line of the Newfoundland Railway which was opened in 1884 originally went from Whitbourne to Broad Cove Junction at the bottom of Trinity Bay and then across the barrens to Tilton. The 13 miles of track between Broad Cove Junction and Tilton, known as the Tilton branch, were taken up in 1915-16.
