| Brownsdale, Trinity Bay
Brownsdale is a small community in Trintiy Bay which is located between New Melbourne and Sibley's Cove. The original name of Brownsdale was Lance Cove South. Its name was changed because there were two other Lance Coves on the Island, including one on Bell Island. The name change took place prior to the 1921 Newfoundland Census.
Brownsdale's first school was built in 1856 to accommodate twenty pupils. The first community church was Wesleyan and was constructed in 1870. The currench church, the United Church of Brownsdale, was built in 1892.
